Cincinnati announces affiliation!!!

Our beloved Cyclones announced today that the Montreal Canadiens will be their NHL affiliate! I personnally am very thrilled about this. I have been a long time closet fan of the Canadiens, and now will get to watch their prospects take Cincinnati ice! Is it fricken October 20th yet? I think this adds instant crediblity to Nederlander and the Cyclones here in Cincinnati. The Canadiens are the oldest, and one of most respected teams in the NHL. Here is to a great relationship with Montreal!

It is almost football season!

Not only am I avid Cincinnati Cyclone fan. I also love our Cincinnati Bearcats, and Cincinnati Bengals football teams.
If you have never been to Nippert Stadium to watch a game you are missing out! The Bearcats know how to give you an entertaining Saturday afternoon. The stadium is located on UC's main campus. There are a lot of activities before the game at Varsity Village. It is a lively atmosphere with an exciting product. I hope the Cats have a good year! Their quarterback situation is up in the air, but I think Dustin Grutza can do the job.
Speaking of Quarterbacks Carson Palmer hopefully will be ready to lead our Cincinnati Bengals to the Super Bowl! If Coach Lewis can keep his players out of jail the Bengals will be a huge force in the AFC! WHO DEY WHO DEY !!!
On a disapointing note our NIFL team the Cincinnati Marshals lost their playoff game against the River City Rage (St. Louis) I love indoor football and cannot wait to watch the Marshals again next year. Hopefully they will leave the NIFL, and join a more suitable league.
This blog during the upcoming months will probably sway between hockey, and football. SO WHO DEY AND LETS GO CYCLONES!

Moving past

It has been almost 10 years since Cincinnati fell into the media trap of the so called hockey wars. The war is no longer fought on the ice or turnstiles, but now is fought by fans that are so blinded by hate they no longer know how to enjoy themselves at a hockey game. There are people who will never go to U.S. Bank Arena because it is not the Gardens with AHL hockey. Is that what they teach their kids as well? If something does not go your way pout, cry, and complain about it? Does it make you a better person? Or does it make one feel big and important to try and downgrade every little thing about something that you dislike?
I quite frankly am sick of the fighting. The hockey fans of this city have been given a great present. We failed at keeping the AHL, and the ECHL is now coming to town. Last I heard they are both hockey leagues. Hockey the sport so many claim to love, but only under certain circumstances. If is played in the building of their choice, in the league of their choice. That does not sound like a hockey fan to me. It sounds like a spoiled little brat.
Speaking openly now I visit numerous hockey message boards on the internet. There is one board, I visit occasionally likes to state that the only reason the Cyclones are back is because no one would lease/buy them. It was either activate the team or give them back to the league. Does anyone really care about that? What kind of stab is it? Why try to cut out the heart? If the ECHL does good attendance wise, and after a few years, why can we not jump to the AHL? Peoria did it. I know we would have to purchase a franchise, but if the support is there the AHL will fly. Anyone who wants better hockey has to put the work in to do it, and support the hockey we have. If the Cyclones fail it will not be Nederlander's fault. They are taking a financial risk with this team. It will be the fans of Cincinnati's fault because they cannot get over their own stupidity. We have a wonderful opportunity here. A second lease on hockey life. Either get with the program, or do not complain if you do not like the results.
